Digital transformation and its effects need more diverse and gender-responsive perspectives: The ECDF Gender & Diversity Network aims to fund projects that contribute to this diversity in digitalization research. In addition to project funding, the network also announces a prize for the best work that combines different forms of diversity as well as digitization.
"With the network, we want to make it clear that all research topics also have a gender and diversity aspect and promote projects that deal with these topics," says Dr. Christine Kurmeyer, one of the initiators of the network. The network's funding activities are divided into the funding program and the ECDF Award for "Digitization and Diversity": The funding program supports smaller projects with a maximum of 2,000 euros. Funding is provided for activities that focus on equality, diversity and empowerment in the context of digitization. "We want to understand diversity in a comprehensive, intersectional and transdisciplinary sense," emphasizes Prof. Dr. Michelle Christensen. The funded activities must be related to the ECDF, e.g. in the form of publications in the ECDF Open Paper Series, events or exhibitions at the ECDF, mention of the funding in publications, etc. ECDF professors, PIs, and associate members of the ECDF and their collaborators, as well as students of ECDF professors, PIs, and associate professors are eligible to apply.
The ECDF Award for "Digitization and Diversity" honors the best paper dealing with gender and diversity issues in the context of digitalization. "Innovative exhibitions can be submitted, but also classic papers," explains Dr. Sandra Pravica, Scientific Coordinator of the network at the ECDF. ECDF professors, their doctoral students and postdocs can apply for the prize, which is endowed with 1000 euros. The next application deadline is March 31, 2023.
