On June 26, 2019 Wikimedia and OKF DE organise an event at Einstein Center Digital Future to promote the exchange of civil society, politics and educational practice. How can education succeed for an open digital society? With the "Forum Open:Education", the Alliance for Free Education, the Open Knowledge Foundation and Wikimedia Germany would like to promote the debate on contemporary teaching and learning and promote the exchange between civil society, educational practice and political decision-making bodies.
This year's focus is on a critical examination of the current educational projects of the federal and state governments. We take stock of the state of open education in Germany and outline our vision of the comprehensive OER strategy once agreed by the grand coalition.
Together with political decision-makers from the Federal Government and the Länder, we discuss how the good impetus and wealth of experience of recent years can be incorporated and strengthened in a comprehensive OER strategy.
With meeting stands, workshops and discussion rounds, educational initiatives and projects are given an open platform to present their work and exchange practical experiences.
The second part of the event will be a panel discussion in which we will discuss with education policy-makers the potential of digital participation and the next steps in the digital transformation of education. The coalition agreement mentions numerous measures for education policy as well as an open educational resources strategy. In the discussion, we would like to explore what is important.
